A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Join Dores and Matteus as they build a flying machine!

Kanakan Stories Vol 2 is a short side story set in the Suikoden world. If you have played some of the Suikoden games, and continually heard about the land Kanakan, you may have wondered what it's like. I certainly have!  So I decided to create a series of short stories set there.

The idea is to introduce characters of the kind that you would end up recruiting in a standard full Suikoden game, but to tell their origin stories instead.  This is the second game in the series, and if you'd like to play the first, it's here: https://thcrock.itch.io/kanakan-stories-vol-1

I'd describe it as an adventure game but using the Suikoden town/world engine. There is no combat, you just walk around the city and follow the story. Gameplay time is roughly 30-45 minutes.

Install instructions

The three executables (Win, Mac, Linux) can all be unzipped and run like any other program on your platform. These are larger downloads because they bundle a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) to run the game.

There is also a JAR file that you can download if you have Java installed locally on your system already. It is a smaller download than the others, but won't be playable if you don't have Java installed.

If you're not sure whether or not you have Java installed, it's recommended that you download one of the larger executables.

GG. I come from libGDX discord. Here is some feedback:

You could make the Windows, Linux and Mac distributions smaller if you bundle a standard JRE, not the whole OpenJDK (since it has files for development only). You can get these distributions in Adoptium Temurin.

Also have an exclude(“**/*.psd”) in you Jar task (desktop/build.gradle) so it won’t include Photoshop files (as you wouldn’t need it to run the game, only for development and it will only take space in the distribution).

If the Mac distribution only includes files for x86_64, you better make clear in the name by adding “intel” to it so Apple Silicon users won’t be confused because can’t run the app (Or maybe they can? I never used a mac).

The window in a 1366x768 monitor doesn’t show entirely, it hides the title bar, so its hard to close the game, you could reduce the default window height 100px, or even better, add fullscreen mode and an exit option in the game.

Thanks. I didn't know that I was bundling a Java distribution that was bigger than needed! I'll replace those.

As for Mac, I'm not sure about that one. Nobody has downloaded the Mac version yet. I'll look into it.
